Visitors to Bunbury's Dolphin Discovery Centre can now experience a new up close and personal encounter with marine life. Tourism Minister Liz Constable unveiled the centre's latest attraction - the 'Discovery Pool'. Visiting the centre today, Dr Constable said the new pool demonstrated some of the great marine diversity available in the region.

A highly successful initiative that has seen a significant improvement in student behaviour at Carey Park Primary School will be implemented in other schools across Bunbury. The 'Choose Respect' initiative, which was introduced to Carey Park two years ago, uses a code of behaviour to develop and maintain a culture of respect.

Education Minister Liz Constable today officially opened Bunbury’s new $27.3million Manea Senior College. The college opened its doors to 152 Year 11 students in February and will offer Year 12 courses from 2010.

Schools granted more freedom: Education Minister Dr Liz Constable visited Belmont City College to announce the first 34 schools to become Independent Public Schools. The Minister met with students and staff from the school. Principal Janette Gee said she was excited about what her school community could achieve as an Independent Public School. Dr Constable said schools had been waiting for this opportunity. It will mean greater responsibility for principals and flexibility in their recruitment of teachers and other school staff.

| Minister Constable visited Whale World, considered one of Western Australia's most significant tourist attractions. Dr Constable was taken on a tour by general manager Glenn Russell and saw some of the 20 different exhibits including "Giants of the Sea", the jaw dropping skeleton display. Whale World is situated on the site of the old Cheynes Beach Whaling Station, located on the picturesque southern coast of King George Sound. It ceased whaling operations and was decommissioned in 1978. |

| Television show proves economic boost: Ministers Constable and Day visited the set of the hit family television show 'Lockie Leonard', which has been filming its second season in Albany over the last five months. The Ministers met most of the cast and crew, including Busselton actor Sean Keenan, who plays Lockie. Mr Day said the shoot had provided an economic boom with the production spending more than $4.5million in Western Australia. He said ScreenWest's investment of $475,000 in the series has benefited the local film and television industry and local businesses. |

Border school welcomes Minister: During her visit to the Ngaanyatjarra Lands communities, Minister Constable visited the Wingellina school and spoke with the principal, teachers and students. The Wingellina community was incorporated in 1976 and is located a few kilometres from the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia borders.
