Tickets go on sale this week to two international netball matches to be held in Perth before the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The matches will feature some of the world's top players, including current world champions, the Australian Diamonds. Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron said it was a fantastic opportunity to see the Diamonds take on long-time rivals New Zealand. "After Sunday's thrilling one goal win to the Australian Diamonds to claim the 2011 World Netball Championships, I'm sure the test match against New Zealand at Burswood Dome on October 23 will be just as hard fought and exciting," Mr Waldron said. Sixth-ranked South Africa will play seventh-ranked Malawi in a warm up to the test. "Perth fans may also get to see WA's Susan Fuhrmann and Caitlin Bassett, who shot the winning goal to clinch Australia's 10th world netball title," the Minister said. ISS tickets are available from the Ticketmaster website or 136-100. Netball tickets are on sale from the Ticketek website or 132-849. Premier Colin Barnett inspected the site for a new $21.5million sheep saleyard in the Great Southern. More than one million sheep are expected to be traded each year through the new yards near Katanning. "These saleyards are a major contributor to the local economy and a critical part of the infrastructure for livestock in the region," Mr Barnett said. "The existing yards were first developed in 1922 and their poor condition has been a source of concern for many years. Premier Colin Barnett announced Perth's new multi-purpose stadium would be built on the Burswood Peninsula and is scheduled for completion in 2018. The new Perth Stadium will have the third-biggest capacity in Australia and will be the second largest AFL home stadium. It will have a capacity of 60,000 seats with provision for future expansion to 70,000 seats in the style of Melbourne's Etihad Stadium, with similar views, amenities and comfort. This capacity range will more than adequately provide for both members and corporate seating and generous general admission and visiting team supporters. "The new stadium will be a true multi-purpose facility able to hold not only sporting events such as football and major international rugby, cricket and soccer games, but major cultural events such as concerts as well," Mr Waldron said.
