For The Honourable Paul Miles MLA
Minister for Local Government; Community Services; Seniors and Volunteering; Youth
Paul Miles is the Minister for Local Government; Community Services; Seniors and Volunteering; Youth in Western Australia's Liberal National Government. He has also served as the Member for Wanneroo in the Legislative Assembly since September 2008.
Paul was sworn in as the Minister on September 23, 2016 following three years in the role of Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Commerce. He has also served as Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation.
Born in the United Kingdom, Paul first came to Western Australia as a child in 1970 with his parents. They first lived in Cedric Street, Balcatta where he was enrolled in Osborne Park Primary School. Later, the family moved to Girrawheen before settling in Koondoola when they grew to seven - two adults and five children.
Prior to entering Parliament, Paul was a Senior IT technician and also served as the North Ward councillor for the City of Wanneroo.
His involvement with the local community includes more than three decades of service with the Wanneroo Lions Club and as an active member and patron of other local organisations including the Wanneroo Agricultural Society and Local Drug Action Group.
The father of two children and grandfather of one, Paul is looking forward to working in partnership with the community service sector to deliver the best outcomes for communities across Western Australia.
Paul's electorate of Wanneroo is located in the North Metropolitan Region and includes parts of the City of Wanneroo, including the localities of Ashby, Carramar, Gnangara, Hocking, Jandabup, Mariginiup, Pearsall, Sinagra, Wangara and Wanneroo and part of Madeley.
